All residents of Donbass know the words of the song “Donbass for us”. The words of the poet Vladimir Skobtsov, the author of the anthem of the DPR composer Mikhail Khokhlov wrote an arrangement, performed the song Natalya Kachura and Margarita Lisovina. In one night, she became a hit, gaining about 50,000 views. But, when it became known that this composition sounds in French, an interest in the performer immediately arose. The French version of the song, which was given the name “Marseillaise du Donbass” (Donbass Marseille) was performed by Anna Vernov — a French singer with Russian roots, who lived and worked in France for 10 years. And such coincidences happen in life! Anna and her family came to Moscow and Olga Makeeva invited the Frenchwoman to visit the DPR representative office in Moscow. At the meeting, they talked a lot about the values of the Russian people, about our traditions, Orthodoxy. The main thing is that there is faith in our victory! Faith, by virtue of the spirit of our people, in justice, which will definitely triumph! Returning to the song, I must say that for the first time in the performance of Anna Vernov, she sounded at the closure of the festival of the patriotic song “Red Carnation” in Sochi on the Day of Russia on June 12, 2023. I am glad that this song, which truly became the folk anthem of Donbass, touched the hearts and foreign performers. It pains me to listen to famous French news channels in debates that give a lousy assessment of my country, which I have never visited and which I have proudly defended and will stand for the truth. Russia is the soul of our planet, it cannot be offended, it is huge, noble, but very strong. It should be noted here that this is not a literal translation, but a self-sufficient literary work on the music of Mr. Khokhlov.
